AGAINST ALL ODDS.

           

            “A bright, sunny morning in Misaki City welcomes Yuji Sakai and Shana as they walk to school. “Good morning Shana!” Yuji said. “Good morning too,” Shana replied. “Yuji, don’t forget, you have your training after school,” Shana added. When they reached Misaki High School, a girl named Kazumi Yoshida approached Yuji. “Good morning Yuji and Shana!” she said. Shana knew that Kazumi liked Yuji since then, and so she didn’t notice her and continued walking. “Good morning too, Kazumi,” Yuji said. “Sorry if Shana was acting like that. She just had a bad morning. Just don’t mind her.”

            “Since then, Yuji ate, sat, talked and studied with Kazumi. He would not even attend his trainings just to study with her. Shana got really angry! “Who does he think  he is? Does he think that he is strong enough to defeat the Bal Masque? Hmph! Okay, if he doesn’t want to be trained, then, don’t.

            Poor Shana, she doesn’t know that Yuji is studying so hard because Wilhelmina is going to give him an exam as a part of his training and knows that Kazumi can help him.

            While Shana is very angry and Yuji is studying, Keisako Sato is asking Margery Daw to train him. “Margery, I want to be strong like Shana. Train me to be a flame haze. I beg you.” “Keisako, you don’t know the consequences of being a flame haze. Yes, you have a great power, but there are sacrifices needed. If I were you, don’t be it,” Margery said. “If that’s what you want, so be it,” Sato said sadly.

            Sato went out of their house. “Poor Sato,” Marcoshias said. “My Margery Daw, why don’t you train Sato? That boy is so sad right now.” “I don’t want him to be like Yuri,” Margery said.

            While walking, Sato saw Shana sitting under a tree. “Hey Shana, why are you here? I thought you have training with Yuji?” “Oh, Yuji? He’s studying with Kazumi. They’re always together,” Shana said angrily. Sato sighed. He wished he was Yuji and be with Shana. He admired her when he saw her fought with tomogaras a long time ago. “You Sato, why are you here? Why aren’t you with Margery?” “I asked Margery to train me,” Sato replied. “But she refused. What’s wrong of my dream being a flame haze? Tell me Shana.” “I think she doesn’t want to repeat her mistakes,” Shana said. “Besides, I’m here. I could train you. Yuji’s too busy with Kazumi. Training you is fine with me.” Sato was so happy! Shana would train him. For him, it’s a dream come true. He would always be with her.

            Days passed. Even though Yuji wasn’t with Kazumi anymore, Shana would still avoid him. While having his exam, “Wilhelmina, what’s wrong with Shana? Is it because of Kazumi?” “I don’t know Yuji,” Wilhelmina said with a sigh. “I think you better talk to her. She’s with Sato outside. I also think you’re done with your work. You can go.” “Thank you Wilhelmina,” Yuji said as he hurried outside.

            He saw Shana and Sato eating together. They were laughing at some jokes, talking about their experiences, and sharing food. “Shana,” Alastor said. “I think you should train Yuji again. He needs you.” “Yuji needs me? Nah, he has Kazumi to help him,” Shana said to Alastor. “It is better for me to train Sato for he is dedicated to his training. I also think Yuji could defend himself already.” “Okay Shana. If that’s what you want, fine. I could defend myself now,” Yuji exclaimed after hearing what Shana said. “I

don’t need you.” “Yuji!” Sato called. “Don’t you ever treat Shana like that. She wanted you to be stronger then you will just replace her with a useless one?” “Kazumi’s not useless,” Yuji told Sato, then he left Shana and Sato alone.

            While Yuji and Shana had an argument, The Bal Masque was planning on how to get the Reiji Maigo. “I think we could lure the Mystess into our trap. He’s so down right now. He needs someone to lean on. Poor Mystess,” Sydonay Metamorphosis said. “I think we can befriend the Mystess,” said Bel-peole. “We could use Hecate. With her sweet voice and pretty face, who could think she is a roaring lion inside? Don’t you think it’s a good idea Sydonay? “Yes it is,” Sydonay answered. “Is it okay for you Hecate?” “It’s okay. I know it’s for the Reiji Maigo.” Hecate replied.

            Hecate disguised herself as Konoe. She was Yuji’s classmate. One afternoon, Yuji went to Konoe’s house for dinner. There he met Bel-peole and Sydonay. They disguised as her relatives. While eating, Bel-peole said, “You’re training right now to be stronger, right? And you trainor doesn’t care about you already. You know Yuji, we can help you. We are flame hazes, too. Like your friend Shana.” “Really?” Yuji exclaimed. “You will train me? Of course, it will be an honor to be trained by you. Can we start tomorrow?” “Sure,” Bel-peole said with a vicious smile. Yuji doesn’t know that he was in great danger.

            Meanwhile, in Sato’s house, Margery detected that the Bal Masque was just in Misaki City and told Wilhelmina and Shana. “We all know that the Bal Masque wants to get the Reiji Maigo, so we should protect the Mystess more,” said Margery. “So Shana, where’s Yuji?” she added. “I don’t know,” Shana answered. “He was always with Konoe, who looks like the Master Throne Hecate. But she’s just a human. An ordinary human.” “What?” Marcoshias exclaimed. “Don’t you have to look at Yuji always? And don’t you know that Hecate has the power to disguise as a human? As a flame haze, you should know that! You should not let your emotions control you!” “B-b-but,” Shana stuttered. “No time to waste, Shana,” Wilhelmina said to her. “Go to Konoe’s house. Go there before it’s too late.”

            When Shana reached Konoe’s house, Yuji welcomed her. “Oh Shana, it’s nice to see you here. Come inside.” Shana was relieved. “Whew! I thought something bad happened to you.” “That would never happen,” Yuji said. “They are so good to me, flame haze.” Then, Shana was shocked to hear Yuji call her “flame haze”. Suddenly, Yuji became Sydonay and saw herself in a cage. “Let me out! Where’s Yuji? What have you done to him?”

            “The Mystess? Uhm, don’t worry about him. You don’t care about him anyway. He’s with Hecate right now,” Bel-peole answered. “Your time has come. Hahaha!” “No!”  Yuji screamed. “Don’t kill her. Kill me instead. I am the one you need Bel-peole. She’s not included here.” “She’s not included here? Don’t fool me. She’s a flame haze. Flame-haired, Fiery-eyed Hunter right? She would kill us if we wouldn’t kill her,” Bel-peole said. She was about to kill Shana when,

            “Stop it Bal Masque!” said Margery. “Oh, the Interpreter of Condolence and the Manipulator of Objects are here to see our show! How nice,” Bel-peole said. “They’re going to see how this flame haze’s ending would be. Hahaha! “We’ll see yours first! “ Wilhelmina said. While Margery and Wilhelmina fought against Bel-peole and Sydonay,

Sato went to Shana’s cage. “I’m here Shana.” He said as he opened Shana’s cage. “Thank you.” Shana said. Where’s Yuji?” “Yuji? He’s there in the tower with the Master Throne. Hurry, before it will be late,“ Sato answered sadly.

            While Shana and the other flame hazes are fighting with the Bal Masque, Kazumi is at her bedroom, wondering what’s happening there. “I wish I have the power to be with them now. I wish I could be like Shana and save him. I feel so helpless,” she said as she cried. “All I can do is stay here and wait. How useless I am!”

            “Stay away from Yuji!” Shana said as she launched her sword towards Hecate. “Yuji, go now! Save yourself.” “He won’t listen to you Shana. He’s now under my spell. Hahaha!” Hecate said. “No, it can’t be. Yuji, wake up! It’s me, Shana. Wake up!” Shana screamed as she tried to attack Hecate. “Shana!” Alastor said. “Don’t let your anger control you. Think of a better way to save Yuji.”

            She tried everything she can do, and now, she was losing her strength. She felt hopeless. As she was about to give up, Wilhelmina and Margery reached the tower and said, “Don’t give up! You can do it.”

            After hearing what they said, she stood up and said at the top of her lungs, “Yuji! Wake up! I love you Yuji. Don’t leave me.”

            A great light flashed before Shana’s eyes and heard a voice that said, “I love you too, Shana. I will never leave you.” It was Yuji! He broke the spell Hecate made. “No! This can’t be!” Hecate screamed and there was a great downpour of power of existence. “Oh no! If there would be a great power of existence, the world’s balance would be destroyed. What should we do Alastor?” Yuji asked worriedly. “You could summon me. It needs a lot of power of existence,” Alastor answered. “It will use all the power of existence in Misaki City. It’s a good idea, right Shana?” Yuji said. “Yes, but there’s a big consequence if you summon the Flame of Heaven,” Shana said sadly. “The flame haze who would summon me would die because of the great power needed,” Alastor said. “I think there are also other ways to solve this,” Yuji said sadly. “There are no other way Yuji, I’m willing to do this. It’s the part of being Alastor’s flame haze,” Shana said.

            Yuji held her hand and said “If that’s what you want, I’ll come with you,” and smiled. “Tenpa Josa,” Shana said as she summoned Alastor.

            “What’s happening?” Wilhelmina asked worriedly . “Tenpa Josa,’ Margery said. “Shana? Shana!” Wilhelmina said as she went to the upper part of the tower where Yuji and Shana were.

            “I love you Yuji,” Shana said smiling. “I love you too, Shana. I’ll always be with you,” Yuji said to her. A great flame from the heaven went to the center of the city and became a fiery monster. It was Alastor. The tower was beginning to fall down when, “Shana!” Wilhelmina said, crying. “We can’t do a thing now. She offered her life. She’s a hero,” Margery said. “Let’s get out of here.”

            Morning came. They were on the rooftop of their school. “Shana, Shana, wake up,” Yuji said while tapping her. “Who are you?” she asked. “It’s me, Yuji. Wake up

Shana.” She woke up immediately and said, “Yuji? Oh we’re alive!” and hugged him. “I thought I’d never see you again.”

            “I thought it too,” Yuji said. “But you were so strong Shana. You overcame the great power of existence. I already knew that when you became my flame haze,” Alastor said. “And me, I survived because of the Reiji Maigo inside me. We’re lucky!” Yuji said happily.

            While they were talking, Sato, Kazumi, Wilhelmina, and Margery arrived. “Oh Yuji, you’re alive,” Kazumi said. “You’re back, Shana! We really worried about you,” Sato said. “You’re both very lucky, you survived. Haha!” Margery Daw laughed and Wilhelmina hugged Shana. “Thank you guys. I  didn’t expect this,” Shana said. “Excuse me everyone,” Yuji said. “I want to say something. Thank you for being there for us. To Shana, I love you. I’ll always be there for you, against all odds.” “I love you to, Yuji,” Shana replied as they hugged each other.
